Please come to hear the San Diego Gas & Electric Substance Abuse Program Manager, Majid Karimi, present on opioid abuse, medical and recreational marijuana issues; and drug testing and treatment under Dept. of Transportation, voluntary reporting and reasonable suspicion guidelines.
Majid Karimi has degrees in Biology and Chemistry. He is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Certified Hazardous Materials Manager(CHMM) with more than 22 years of Environmental, Health, Safety,Training, and Industrial Hygiene program development and implementation experience in Manufacturing, R&D, Laboratory, Testing, Engineering,Education, Utilities and Construction environments. Majid’s role as the Safety Compliance Manager at SDG&E for the last 4½ years also includes managing the Company’s drug and alcohol program. His presentation will discuss the rapid proliferation of opioid drug abuse in North America as well as the incidence and type of drugs detected in the workforce. He administers a Substance Abuse Program that includes randomized urinalysis under Department of Transportation guidelines. Employees are also governed by voluntary self-reporting and treatment options.Represented (union) and non-represented employees may be subject to drug testing under “reasonable suspicion” observation and interviews.
