One of the biggest challenges faced by many employers is adequately addressing fall hazards in the workplace, and then selecting effective and appropriate fall prevention measures that are compliant with the regulations, effective, and actually utilized by affected workers.
Most of us are aware that a wide variety of “rules” apply to fall hazards including:
I. Regulations: Fed OSHA, Cal OSHA, EM385, etc
II. Standards: ANSI and NIOSH
III. Best Practices: Established by each Employer
This round table, open discussion will include both passive and active control methods and focus on fall hazards and such as:
- Skylights
- Roof hatches and access
- Ladders
- Parapet walls
- Slip and trip hazards such as conduit, piping, curbs, and other roof features
Participants are encouraged to be prepared to discuss examples that are applicable to their own work environment.
