Screening for PFAS & PFOAS (Per- and Polyfluorinated Substances)

Todd Dresser, CHMM, CEA, Environmental Audit Practice Leader – Chubb Global Risk Advisors

Todd Dresser is the Environmental Audit Practice Leader for Chubb Global Risk Advisors.  He is a nationally Certified Hazardous Materials Manager and Certified Environmental Auditor who has supported the compliance efforts of a wide variety of industrial, institutional and governmental facilities. He is also a Massachusetts Toxics Use Reduction Planner which is a state sustainability professional credential. He has helped small mom and pop businesses, complex Fortune 500 companies, and large campus style facilities. During his career, he has had the opportunity to lead and conduct more than 2500 multimedia compliance inspections. As a result, he has seen and learned a lot from the facilities he has supported. Todd consistently uses the knowledge gained through these activities to help his clients.

Todd has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Bowdoin College and a Master of Science degree in Environmental Biology from Hood College.

Todd also has a strong passion for promoting improved resource utilization and management. His targets areas are improving chemical/site safety and reducing waste generation. He uses real world examples of how subtle process changes have and can promote significant safety improvements or generate cost savings. He has found that there are many opportunities for being green while also improving the bottom line. The key is being able to identify the opportunities and making good use of them.

On Tuesday, March 12, Todd will provide a beginners guide for how and why to start screening your facility for PFAS including how to assess a facility for PFAS substances. During the presentation, he will review some common sources and activities that involve PFAS usage. He will generally review existing federal policy/regulation related to PFAS management. Todd will also outline strategies/starting points for determining if PFAS are present. He will review a tool participants can use to help determine if PFAS are present in their supply chain. He will finish with a brief case study describing regulatory reporting and response actions triggered when an industrial facility had a fire that activated an aqueous foam forming fire suppressant that contained PFAS.

We are pleased to announce that this presentation has been approved for 0.1 CEUs for registered attendees!
