Safety Officer – Dempsey Construction Co.

We are looking for a responsible Safety Officer to facilitate compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines and Owner Safety contract requirements. You will provide advice on measures to minimize hazards or unhealthy situations. You will also be on a constant lookout for violations.

Your work will be largely focused on prevention, so you need to be conscientious and farsighted. The ideal candidate will also be detail-oriented and ready to act in emergencies.

The goal is to establish a safe workplace according to legal standards and foster a culture of attention to health and safety.

Inspects the site to ensure it is a hazard-free environment.
Conducts toolbox meetings
Reviews and approves all subcontractors’ safety plans and daily inspections.
Reviews all subcontractor AHA’s and ensures they are being performed daily prior to any work being preformed
Verifies that injury logs and reports are completed and submitted to the Safety Manager and Project team.
Verifies that all tools and equipment are adequate and safe for use.
Enforces safety guidelines.
Trains and carries out drills and exercises on how to manage emergency situations.
Conducts investigations of all accidents and near-misses.
Establishes safety standards and policies as needed.
Watches out for the safety of all workers and works to protect them from entering hazardous situations.
Responds to employees’ safety concerns.
Enforces disciplinary actions.
Preforms Safety orientations for all employees and subcontractors and maintains records.
Files all safety documents in safety weekly.
Updates Weekly foreman’s meeting minuets with safety items.
Preforms monthly eyewash station, fire extinguisher, and AED inspections.
